Who We Are?

We believe that most badminton enthusiasts are not badminton professionals but would love to improve their badminton game, just as much as us.

MEET OUR FOUNDER

Sambo S.

Co-Founder/Director
Entrepreneur

Sambo first touched a badminton racket in early 2014, as he was invited to come play with couple of mates. Although the original friends who introduced him into the sport has stopped playing badminton that very same month he was invited to play, Sambo fell in love with the sport and continues to play socially today.

When he first started, like most beginners, he found the game very hard to play and new he had to improve his skills if he wanted to have fun and challenging games with other people at different badminton socials.

Hungry to improve his badminton skills, he would spend countless hours watching Youtube clips off different coaches trying to learn different aspects of badminton from the basics to advanced skills. He also spent many hours in group and private training sessions (after work), although they have helped. He felt that the progress was slow and that there could be a better way to learn.

Another problem he found was that, even though there was a wealth of information on the internet. Most of the information were scattered and if you had a question regarding a specific technique, you cannot get a hold of the coach to ask for clarification which made learning difficult.

Sambo decided to start Smash Secrets to help beginner badminton players like himself to improve their badminton game.He has worked with many professional badminton players and coaches to help create easy to follow badminton video lessons.Smash Secrets was developed to help beginners and intermediate players learn badminton skills easier and faster. Shortcutting traditional methods and utilizing new modern science techniques that has NOT been taught before.

Leon W.

Co-Founder / CEO
Badminton Coach, National Badminton
EngineerPlayer

Leon has played badminton for more than 20 years and has competed and won many state and national tournaments. He was introduced to the sport at an early age and has trained with coaches from all around the globe.

The game was never easy to grasp as he put in more than 10,000 hours of practise in his junior years. After reaching a plateau, he realised training hard does not always yield results and most player get stuck at a certain level and can’t surpass it even when being professionally coached.

As an engineer and scientist, he sought out to find alternative pathways and nail down a way to break this learning barrier. And through research and understanding he found that any player could improve provided they trained with purpose, awareness and consciousness.Leon has also spent years breaking down badminton techniques into raw physics and mechanics to optimise every shot.

In recent years, he has turned his efforts into educating badminton players to learn the smart way instead of the hard way. And communicating this information to our valuable audience through Smash Secrets.
